The Harding County Commission found their turn-of-the-century courthouse to be inadequate for their needs. The solution was to rebuild on the same site while occupying the original building. The new facility includes a courtroom with Judge's chambers, a jury room, State's Attorney offices, Sheriff's office, Commission meeting room, Auditor's office, Register of Deeds' office, Treasurer's office, Assessor's office, County Extension offices, and the Highway department. Additionally, the building has several vaults and community space. The one level structure is handicap accessible, designed to be energy efficient, and integrates passive solar heat.
